Ayodele Mojeed, a native of Ife-Olukotun from Oke Ife compound and a student of the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Telecommunication and Electronics Option), has shared his vision for transforming the Ife-Olukotun Student Union Group (IOSUG) as he campaigns for the position of General Secretary.
Mojeed highlighted the importance of embracing digital tools to manage and maintain documentation and records for the union. He emphasized that in today’s digital era, adopting centralized online platforms for record management is crucial for accessibility and efficiency. This approach, he believes, will streamline operations and enhance the union’s effectiveness.
Reflecting on his administrative experience, Mojeed cited his tenure as Welfare Director during his Higher National Diploma (HND) program, where he successfully managed various tasks and responsibilities. He also pointed to his proficiency in multitasking and his ability to use Microsoft Office and related tools to handle administrative duties effectively.
Mojeed proposed practical solutions for organizing and documenting union meetings. He mentioned his familiarity with digital platforms like Zoom and Microsoft SharePoint, which he plans to leverage for hosting virtual meetings and ensuring that records are securely stored and easily accessible to all members.
In discussing communication strategies, Mojeed emphasized the need for timely and efficient dissemination of updates to the student body. He plans to implement a multi-channel communication strategy that will ensure all members stay informed and engaged.
To increase student participation in union activities, Mojeed stressed the importance of strategic planning. He aims to make the union more accessible and inclusive, encouraging active involvement from all students. Addressing concerns about disengagement from paying annual dues, Mojeed pledged to prioritize innovative strategies that would reframe dues as a collective investment in the union’s growth. He emphasized the need to rebuild trust and restore confidence in the system, ensuring that paying dues becomes a shared responsibility embraced by all members.
Mojeed described his vision for IOSUG as a dynamic and responsive organization dedicated to serving the needs of its members. He aims to advocate for all students within the association and create a platform where the union has a meaningful voice in shaping the student experience and the broader campus environment.
Clarifying the role and structure of IOSUG, Mojeed explained that the group is based in Yagba East, Ife-Olukotun, and serves as a unifying body for students from the region. He acknowledged the challenges currently facing the union and expressed confidence in his ability to address them, citing his past leadership experience as a foundation for driving meaningful change.
