EBIGO Should Not Only Be in Words But Also Action: A Call For A United Kogi West For The Kogi November 2023 Election

It is time for the men and women of high intellect and conscience from Kogi West to come together and put her house together for the forthcoming Kogi 2023 election. While the location of a governor does not necessarily determine the level of success, we cannot rule out the benefits that such leadership can bring to their region if their emergence is a collective and communal effort.

Even though some may perceive the current governor of Kogi State to be tainted in terms of performance and character, the people of Kogi Central can point to one or two great infrastructure developments in hospitals and institutions in their region. Furthermore, many unknown young men have been lifted from the region.

It is disheartening to see that Kogi West has become irrelevant in the scheme of things, as we were once lobbying for the deputy governorship slot that is not the case anymore, we are not even in the calculation.

Nowadays, young men from Kogi West are being used as tools by politicians from the East and Central online and offline primarily as a result of what they would benefit from.

However, we cannot solely blame them. Most of the current appointees from Kogi West have achieved nothing to write home about and only care about their immediate benefits. If it were not for Elder Leke Abejide and very few other, who has shown great leadership strides, most of the contemporary politicians from Kogi West have achieved nothing to write home about. They have failed to achieve meaningful development and have also failed to empower the youths, who should be the future to look forward to.

It is not entirely lost yet. This is a call to action and an appeal to the conscience of both the old and the young. Kogi West indigenes are not slaves. We need to speak with one voice and advocate for what we rightly need. Kogi State is a mini-Nigeria, and just as we advocate for a power shift to all major tribes at the national level, we should also do the same in the case of Kogi's forthcoming election. We have capable hands to lead the state to greatness and prosperity. Not having an elected governor of Kogi West origin since the creation of the state in 1991 is not fair. It is not only callous to advocate for 16-16-0 or 24-8-0, but it is also irrational and repressive."
