The former Miss Ife-olukotun Nasiru Aishat a student of Kaduna state polytechnic, department of Mass communication 300 level student , described the beauty context as an open way to opportunity for her.
Aishat was interviewed by Mahmood Jamiu Abiodun on AMA WhatsApp group chat on 22nd January, 2022, about her reign as the immediate Miss Ife-olukotun.
She said " Pageantry gives me a window of opportunities, this world ties in with the entertainment world! So, it opens doors to modeling, acting, performing, and much more! Even if i want to speak out about things i have , are passionate about for philanthropy points of views as well! I have been blessed; since doing this pageantry I have been in modelling, hosted, did radio, and much more! And, I was able to do all of these thanks to being in a beauty pageant."
A lot of activities and processes has to be considered to become Miss Ife-olukotun.
She explained that " beauty pageant is not a walk in the park,especially where they are perceived by the society as a tool/ sex object.
They are judged and undressed immediately they introduce themselves as models,hence the stereotype that it is promiscuous ,this beliefs makes many of the models gives up.
They are exploited in that, they are underpaid and sometimes not paid at all,this is after all the investing they place in hiring the wears,grooming themselves and even transportation,some of them loan expecting to pay the debt once they have been paid but they end up disappointed, making it hard for them to do other projects ,for it's not always about the beauty that is physical but of the heart too hence some of them use their crowns to touch lives,by doing various charity events."
She added that her tenure has been a unique one by making the young ladies of our time have theirs self esteem and also making the young ones have self confidence about their future
Also joining hands together for the purpose of achieving unity between oneself an minding the societal status and also my tenure has made many youth more confidence about themselves and to be more Independent most importantly keeping to the right track on life and other treats that comes with it.
